Flint Generals News Release
FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals have earned five out of a possible eight points (2-1-0-1) in four International Hockey League games. The Generals were 1-0-0-1 in action over the weekend, highlighted by a 5-3 triumph over the visiting Kalamazoo Wings and a 4-3 shootout loss at Port Huron last Saturday night.
The Generals head into this weekend's play in second place one point behind their rival Port Huron Ice Hawks.
SHOOTING THE PUCK: Rookie Josef Fojtik is off to a great start with the Generals with three goals in his last two games. Fojtik has the early lead in the IHL with two power play goals. The Generals are second as a team on the power play early on, while they remain fourth on the penalty kill. It's also interesting to note that Flint has scored the IHL's lone shorthanded marker.
Forward Jordan Fox continues to be the first to light the lamp for the Generals as he fired his second first goals in the season.
STOPPING THE PUCK: It was a busy second period on Saturday night for goaltender Eric Marvin who had to make 23 saves against the Port Huron Ice Hawks. It's the most shots on goal by an opponent against the Generals so far this season. However the 23 shots were part of a 51-shot barrage by the Ice Hawks against Marvin which set another high for Flint in 2007-2008.

GENERALS REWIND:
FLINT GENERALS 5 - KALAMAZOO WINGS 3
The Flint Generals let their offense do the talking in the first 40 minutes of Friday's game against the Wings as they netted five goals. Two goals each from Jordan Fox and Josef Fojtik and a single tally from Michel Beausoleil lifted the Generals to a 5-3 triumph. Chad Alban won his second start between the pipes.
PORT HURON ICEHAWKS 4 - FLINT GENERALS 3 SHOOTOUT
Saturday night's game had a similar start to the previous night but an uneasy and unfortunate ending for the Generals as they were stopped 4-3 in a shootout to the rival Ice Hawks. The Generals led 3-0 after 40 minutes and appeared to be in good shape, thanks to goals by Josef Fojtik, Jared Dumba and Greg Bullock. But a third period rally by the hometown Ice Hawks tied the game 3-3. After a scoreless overtime, Port Huron would score twice in a shootout to pull out the victory.
The Ice Hawks fired 51 shots at goaltender Eric Marvin including 23 alone in the second stanza.
