Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
MUSKEGON, MI.--- As they progress to the second full week of the embryonic International Hockey League sea-son, the Muskegon Fury are continuing their concerted efforts in refining and otherwise streamlining their roster; especially at the forward position in general, and in particularly, at the center position.
On this date, the Fury completed a straight one-for-one trade with league rivals, the Port Huron Icehawks. In the com-pleted transaction, Muskegon has obtained top-scoring center MARK CADOTTE in exchange for the playing rights to center Mark Nebus. The deal takes effect immediately with Cadotte scheduled to report to his new team, the Fury, on Tuesday, October 30th while Nebus is due to arrive in Port Huron, also, some time this week.
CADOTTE, (kah-DOT) 30, is in his 10th pro season overall and was in his second campaign as a member of the Port Huron sextet. The speedy 5-8, 185lb centerman is bringing a rich array of accomplishments, achievements and credentials to the Muskegon organization. Last season, in the 2006-07 campaign, he returned to North America following a prolific five-year stint performing his craft in various European theaters; most notably, in England and in Italy.
With the Port Huron Flags last year, the Windsor, Ontario native finished fourth in overall team scoring, collecting 40-points in 66-games on 19-goals, 21-assists with 60-PIM. His total offensive numbers included 4-PPG, 9-PPA, 3-SHG, 2-GWG, 5-FG and superb 5/12 marksmanship in the OTSO for a .417 percentile with those 5-OTSO goals equaling the best on the club. Thus far, through the first week of the current 2007-08 season, he is 2(0-0-0) with 2-PIM.
Having produced sound and solid scoring numbers throughout his professional career, Cadotte's premiere pro seasons can be traced back to the 2003-04 season in the EIHL with the Nottingham Panthers where he was 56(30-47-77) with 42-PIM and the 2000-01 campaign with the ECHL Arkansas RiverBlades 72(37-44-81) along with 76-PIM.
Muskegon Director of Hockey Operations / Head Coach Bruce Ramsay is thrilled with his newest acquisition and extols the virtues and values of Cadotte. "Bringing Mark here fills an area that we have been looking to upgrade. He is a true, tested veteran who has the skills and ability to play all three forward positions. Mark has had a tremendous pro career and with his presence in our lineup, he will give us speed, energy and much-valued veteran leadership. Last season, he was a key player on a team that did not sometimes score a lot. With the Fury and playing with the right players, he has the capability of delivering some excellent numbers."
When Cadotte arrives to the Muskegon camp, he will be toting a resume which includes a stellar major junior 'A' career in the OHL where he starred for four full seasons with the Niagara Falls Thunder, Plymouth Whalers and London Knights. In 1996-97 with the Whalers, he collected 68-points in 66-games on 28-goals, 40-assists while accumulating 142-PIM. The following season of 1997-98 was his best one yet at that level. Dividing the season between Plymouth and London, he was 67(39-55-94) with 76-PIM. In the playoffs, he added 12-goals in 16-games and totaled 19-points.
Muskegon's newest center is expected to report to the club and be on the ice Tuesday morning for his first practice session with his new team.
