FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals are looking for the win column after dropping 4 straight in the International Hockey League last week. Here is a look quick look back.
Monday, February 16, 2009 - Flint 2 @ Bloomington 4 - This game was tied at 2-2 heading into the third period before the two late Prairie Thunder goals proved to be the deciding factor. Jom DiPace and Travis Hanson scored for the Generals.
Friday, February 20, 2009 - Fort Wayne 10 @ Flint 1 - A very close contest for 40 minutes as the Generals were trailing 2-1 but the third period was a tough one for the Generals. Defenseman Joe Pace scored Flint's lone goal.
Saturday, February 21, 2009 - Flint 3 @ Muskegon 9 - The first of a home and home series with the Lumberjacks after the big mid-week 5 player trade with Frank Littlejohn, Maxime Lincourt and Alex Lamontagne coming to Flint for John DiPace and Ryan Jorde. The Generals trailed 5-0 after the first period. Littlejohn, along with Zach Pearson scored 2nd period goals to cut into the Muskegon lead but could get no closer.
Sunday, February 22, 2009 - Muskegon 3 @ Flint 2 - Frank Littlejohn gave the Generals a 1-0 second period lead before Muskegon scored twice to take a 2-1 lead. Defenseman Martin Andrej (1) tied the game in the third period with a power play goal. Muskegon wrapped it up on a late power play goal by former General John DiPace.
Player of the Week Nomination - Veteran right winger Frank Littlejohn is our nominee for the Pepsi/IHL Player of the Week ending February 22, 2009. Littlejohn had two goals and two assists in three games last week. He scored twice against his former Muskegon teammates with a goal in Muskegon on Saturday and in Flint on Sunday.
Upcoming Action - The Flint Generals host the Bloomington Prairie Thunder on Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Then, it is on the road to Fort Wayne on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 8:00 p.m. before returning home to host Muskegon on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at 7:30 p.m.
1980 Team USA Hockey Gold Medalist to be in Flint - The Flint Generals are proud to welcome 1980 "Miracle on Ice" goaltender Jim Craig on Thursday when hosting the Bloomington Prairie Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Craig is the national spokesman for the Ultimate SAAAVE (Saving Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Very Efficiently) campaign. He is in town to bring public awareness on this issue as he lost his father to AAA in 1988.
