Port Huron Icehawks News Release

PORT HURON, MI - Port Huron Icehawks goalie Ryan Mior was named International Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the week ending Sunday, February 22, the league announced Monday.

Mior finished the week with a 1-0-1-0 record. He made a total of 62 saves and gave up just two goals in two games played versus the Bloomington PrairieThunder to give him an impressive .973 save percentage and a 1.87 goals against average for the week.

On Wednesday, Mior made 25 saves to earn his league-leading third shutout of the season. He made a bid for another shutout in Saturday's rematch, stopping a total of 37 shots in regulation and giving up his first goal of the night with just 33 seconds left to play in regulation. The Icehawks went on to lose in overtime.

The 21-year old St. John's, Newfoundland native is 5-1-2-1 in nine games this season and has not lost in regulation in his last four starts (2-0-2-0). This is Mior's third league honor this season. He was named Rookie of the Week in Week 16 and Rookie of the Month for January.

The Icehawks are currently tied for first place in the IHL with the Muskegon Lumberjacks and will play three games this week. They travel to Kalamazoo on Wednesday, before returning home to host the same PrairieThunder in back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday. Saturday's game is the Icehawks second annual Star Wars Night. Walk-up tickets for kids 14-and-under and seniors 62-and-over are just $5.
