Oshawa Generals News Release
The Generals battled the Petes Thursday night in Peterborough in game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals. Coming off a game 3 win Tuesday night, Oshawa came into game 4 looking for the series clinching win, solidifying another sweep, sending the Generals to Round 3 and the Eastern Conference Finals.
The Petes came out hungry in the first period and were rewarded early just one minute and nineteen seconds into the opening frame. It was Clark Seymour who buried the opening goal, which marked the first time the Petes had led in the series. The Generals answered back shortly after with Jacob Busch's second goal of the playoffs to tie the game at 1-1 just after the five-minute mark of the first. Both teams traded penalties through the remainder of the frame, but neither side could find a power play marker.
Oshawa took the lead early in the second when Cole Cassels fired home his sixth of the post season, two minutes into the second frame. Penalty trouble continued for the Generals as they were handed their fourth minor penalty of the game. Hunter Garlent finally netted a power play goal for the Petes, one minute into the man-advantage to tie the game at 2's. Mitchell Vande Sompel answered right back for the Generals firing his first of the playoffs past D'Agostini to give Oshawa the lead once again. Bradley Latour then followed with his second of the playoffs to give the Generals a 4-2 lead near the mid-mark of the second period. The second frame was highlighted by a huge 5-on-3 penalty kill by the Generals to hold onto the 4-2 lead heading into the third.
The Generals kept up their style of play into the third, holding the Petes at bay. An empty net goal by Bradley Latour solidified the win and the second round sweep over the Petes. Daniel Altshuller was solid in net, turning aside 27 of 29 shots, as the Generals continue onto the next round as the only undefeated team in the playoffs.
Oshawa will have a nice little break before starting Round 3 next week. Please check www.oshawagenerals.com regularly as dates, times and opponent for the Eastern Conference Finals are still to be determined.
