
Generals Suffer 11-10 Walk-Off Loss to Cane Cutters

The Victoria Generals staged a 5-run rally in the ninth inning to tie the Acadiana Cane Cutters, but the reigning Texas Collegiate League champions picked up two runs in the tenth inning to deliver a 11-10 loss to Victoria in Youngsville, Louisiana and leave it searching for its first win of the season.
The Generals had a successful day at the plate with ten runs and 13 hits, four of which came off the bat of Murray State College 1B Gage Gilchrist. McNeese State 3B Easton Dowell and Cornell SS Ryan Porter collected two hits and two runs batted in each, while WCJC C Levi Castilleja tallied two RBIs.
The Generals cycled through six pitchers, starting with UHV LHP Brady Parker, who surrendered three runs on four hits, two walks and a strikeout over 2.1 innings. Abilene Christian RHP Holt Gibson then gave up three runs in one inning of work with four walks and a strikeout.
Abilene Christian RHP Blaine Palmer offered 2.2 scoreless frames with four punchouts before Angelina College RHP Trace Sanchez was tacked one earned run and two unearned runs over one frame. Huston-Tillotson RHP Seve Medrano notched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts before Kansas Wesleyan RHP KT Gearlds rounded things out with a run over 1.2 frames.
Acadiana held a 6-2 lead after four innings before Victoria shortened the lead with two runs in the sixth. The Cane Cutters responded with a three-spot in the seventh for a 9-4 lead, but the Generals evened the score with five runs in the ninth inning. In extras, Victoria took a brief 10-9 lead with a run in the tenth, but Acadiana scored twice in the bottom of the tenth to capture the victory.
The Generals look for their first win of the summer as they take on the Brazos Valley Bombers at Edible Field in Bryan on Friday, June 2, at 7 p.m.
