
Generals Struggle Offensively in Loss to Flying Chanclas

Victoria Generals fell behind and couldn't come back in an 8-1 loss to San Antonio Flying Chanclas.
The Generals struggled offensively and only managed to earn one run. In the 7th inning Austin Ochoa doubled on a line drive to left field and Sammy Diaz scored.
The Flying Chanclas' starter Matt Sessler was able to keep the Generals bats at bay, going five scoreless innings with only one hit and recording five strikeouts. In relief, Cale Wagner, Evan Maldonado, and AG Ayala helped keep the Chanclas lead. Wagner pitched two innings with one run, unearned, on one hit and recorded two strikeouts. Evan Maldonado went one inning, giving up only two walks. Ayala finished the game for the Chanclas, going one inning allowing no hits, and recording one strikeout.
The Chanclas started it off with a single ground ball to left field by Justin Thompson that allowed Rody Barker to score. Their bats went quiet in the next few innings but came back in the 6th. Marcos Villegas hit a ground ball to 3rd base and a reach on error allowed Ryan Flores to score. Jarek Wells grounds into fielder's choice that brought in Zac Vooletich for a run. A triple by Julio Riggs allowed Jonathan LaCourse and Wells to score. Barker's single to left field brought Cole Modling in for an additional run. Wells singled on a hard ground ball to left field and Vooletich scored.
Generals' starter Miles Clack worked out of several jams to keep the Flying Chanclas to three earned runs on seven hits and recorded three strikeouts in his five and a third innings pitched. Brett Brown and Chris Foster came out of the bullpen for the Generals. Brown pitched two-thirds of an inning with four runs, none earned, on three hits and recorded two strikeouts. Foster went three innings with one earned run on two hits and recorded five strikeouts.
The Generals hit the road for game one of their playoff series with the Cane Cutters on Tuesday before returning to Riverside Stadium for game two (and game three if necessary) Wednesday's game will be a FREE TICKET NIGHT presented by Homewood Suites and Victoria Pain and Rehabilitation Center! Come out and support the Generals as they push for their third Championship. Gates open at 6PM with first pitch set for 7:05.
