Generals opening night is tomorrow

FLINT MI - Rebuilding the tradition of Flint Generals professional hockey takes center stage tomorrow (Friday) night at Perani Arena and Event Center. It's the 37th opening night for the Generals and takes more special meaning this season because of the new ownership of The Perani Group.

This night will also be special as the Generals officially launch the rebuilding of another tradition the International Hockey League.

The Generals who return just three players from last year's playoff team host the Port Huron Ice Hawks at 7:30 pm. The two teams met twice during the pre-season with each team winning once. The Generals won 5-2 at Perani Arena last Friday and the following night the Ice Hawk picked up a 4-1 triumph.

There are plenty of promotions and excitement planned for opening night. The band Radio Pirate DJ will be performing prior to the game. Everyone in attendance gets thundersticks. The Generals will debut their new look jerseys and every player will be introduced prior to the game.

Fans who cannot make it to the game can listen to all of the action on Unforgettable 1470 WFNT beginning with a special edition of Generals Pre-Game Report protected by Teachout Security called 'Prelude to a Season' at 7 p.m. The new voice of the Flint Generals Denis J. Puska brings you all of the non-stop play-by-play action at 7:30 pm. The game is also available on the world wide web at www.flintgenerals.com. Video coverage is provided once again this season by the B2 Networks. A high speed internet connection is required in order to view the broadcast.

Opening weekend continues this Saturday for the Generals as they host the Bloomington Prairie Thunder also at 7:30 pm. All fans in attendance will receive free magnet schedules.

It's also Breast Cancer Awareness Night and members of the Flushing Relay for life will be setting up a table. The Generals fully support this worthy effort.

There is even more entertainment planned that night as SUPERFANS will be performing strolling entertainment throughout the game for fans of all ages.

It's also the first UAW night and UAW members can receive discounted tickets at the door.
