Victoria Generals News Release
The Victoria Generals couldn't muster up a hit as they fell to the Baton Rouge Rougarou 12-0 at Pete Goldsby Field in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Victoria's pitching staff didn't fare much better, allowing 13 hits while the defense committed six errors. Four Baton Rouge pitchers teamed up for the combined no-hit effort as the Generals fell to 3-4 on the season.
UT-Arlington RHP Jack Hagan got the starting nod the Generals, logging 3.2 innings while allowing two earned runs and six unearned runs on seven hits, a walk and two strikeouts before Angelina College RHP Trace Sanchez briefly relieved him for 0.1 innings with an unearned run and two hits. Galveston College LHP RJ Patrick notched two frames, surrendering one earned run and two unearned runs with two hits, a walk and a punchout. Murray State College LHP Ryan Dugas closed out the final two innings, holding the Rougarou scoreless and limiting them to two hits, two walks and three strikeouts.
Baton Rouge scored in the first five innings, including a six-spot in the fourth. Their first run came in the opening frame on a wild pitch before RBI singles pushed a run across in the second and third innings.
In the fourth inning, a 2-RBI double plated a couple runs before a 2-RBI single scored two more. An error allowed the inning's fifth run to score before another RBI single capped the scoring. Three more runs came across in the fifth for the Rougarou to round out their ambush.
Victoria looks to bounce back on Thursday, June 8, in a rematch with Baton Rouge at Pete Goldsby Field. The Generals make their return to Riverside Stadium on Saturday, June 10, at 7:05 p.m. to battle the Rougarou for the sixth time this season. Saturday is Free Ticket Night, presented by Compadres Design, and will feature the Warrior's Weekend Jersey Auction, presented by Scherer Kubota. The Generals will wear commemorative Warrior's Weekend jerseys that will be auctioned off following the game with 100% of proceeds going to Warrior's Weekend.
