Victoria Generals News Release
Generals are coming back to Brazos Valley after a shortened series against the Baton Rouge Rougarou. Generals are looking to end this road stretch with a winning record before heading back to Riverside Stadium on Tuesday night.
The Bombers get their offense going early in the bottom of the first. Jackson Cobb would get a one out single and would be followed by a RBI double from Tyner Hughes to give the Bombers the first run of the game. Bombers would get the bases loaded, but Malachi Lott would strikeout back to back batters to get out of the inning.
Bombers would get their first two batters out in the bottom of the second before getting their offense to continue their momentum. Mike Adair would draw a walk to extend the inning followed by a single from Cobb and another walk for Hughes to load the bases. After the walk, the Generals would make a pitching change to Hunter Murray ending Lott's night. Wyatt Grant would be the first batter Murray see and hit a double that would bring Adair and Cobb home to make the score 3-0 Bombers. Lott would end his night with one and two-thirds innings, three strikeouts, three hits, four walks, and three earned runs.
The Generals would make a pitching change to Austin Dean in the bottom of the fifth ending Murray's night with two and a third innings of work, one strikeout, only allowing one hit and no runs allowed.
The Bombers starter, Price Simmering, had a good night keeping the Generals lineup struggling not allowing baserunners during his outing. Simmering would see five innings in this game with a statline of four strikeouts, two hits, and one walk with no runs allowed.
The Bombers looked to their bullpen to continue Simmering's performance in keeping the Generals lineup struggling as the Bombers made a pitching change in the top of the sixth with Ryan Phearson taking the mound.
The Generals would make another pitching change to Will Duncan in the bottom of the seventh ending Dean's night with two innings, four strikeouts, and allowing no runs.
After Phearson held the Generals lineup to one hit in his two innings of work, the Bombers would make a pitching change to Patrick Hail in the top of the eighth to close the game with the score still at 3-0. Phearson would end his night with one strikeout and no runs allowed.
The Generals reached the top of the ninth where they failed to get a rally going and would lose this game to the Bombers 3-0 and finish their road stretch.
The Generals will have the next two days off before playing their next home game on Tuesday night against the Acadiana Cane Cutters on Free Ticket Night presented by Sodalis Victoria Assisted Living.
