Victoria Generals News Release

Generals are back at Riverside Stadium after a quick trip to Bravos Valley. The Generals are looking to get back in the win column after losing their last three games. Generals are continuing their promotion-filled week by running a Free Ticket Night presented by Invista.

The Bombers offense got going driving in the first run of the game in the second inning after two hits from Shelby Becker and Brandon Bishop. Colby Casey kept the Bombers offense in check after allowing the one run having three strikeouts and allowing only one hit after the second inning.

The Bombers changed their pitcher to begin the bottom of the third as Colton Taylor would take the mound. Ben Bosse would end his night with two innings of work with three strikeouts, and two walks. Generals would take advantage of the pitching change loading the bases with no outs, but would only get one run on board to tie the game after a lineout and Angel Mendoza grounding to a double play. Taylor would recover from a bases loaded third inning getting strikeouts on four of the seven batters faced in the next two innings.

Patrick Dunn entered the game to pitch for the Generals in the top of the seventh inning with Casey finishing his outing with six innings of work while giving up only one run, five strikeouts, and two walks. Dunn entered the game going through the order in the seventh with a strikeout to end the inning.

The Bombers changed pitchers to Dalton LeBlanc in the bottom of the seventh ending Taylor's night with four innings pitched, one run allowed, four strikeouts, and one walk. LeBlanc would have two runners on the corners in his first inning of work before getting out of the inning allowing no runs.

In the top of the eighth inning, the Bombers would get their offense to come alive and get the bases loaded from two walks and a single from Davis Powell. The Generals put Austin Dean in the game to get out of the situation with only one out. Dean would strikeout his first batter in three pitches and create a popup to Chase Sanguinetti in one pitch to get out of the inning allowing no runs to come across leaving the game tied at one.

The Generals entered the eight inning looking to rally and start with a walk from Adrian Minjares where the Generals would bring JJ Slack to pinch run and Mendoza would sacrifice bunt to advance the runner. The Generals would draw two more walks to load the bases but LeBlanc would pitch well to leave the Generals getting no runs to keep the score tied at one.

The Generals looked to get through the order of the Bombers in the top of the ninth, but an error on two outs allowed two runners on the corners and Davis Powell hitting a single to bring home a run for the Bombers to take a two to one lead. The Generals looked to rally in the bottom of the ninth with Samuel Benjamin leading off the inning with a bunt single who would advance to second on a wild pitch. Adam Becker would get a walk with Benjamin advancing to third on another wild pitch. After a strikeout from Sanguinetti, Benjamin would score on another wild pitch from the Bombers to tie the game at two. Mendoza would flyout to keep the game tied entering extra innings.

In extra innings, the Bombers will take the lead in the top of the eleventh from a sacrifice fly from Bishop and draw a walk to Mike Adair, but leave him stranded. The Generals get their inning started with Brandon Galindo on second from the ghost runner rule. Isiah Walker would lay down a sacrifice bunt to put Galindo on third. After a strikeout from Benjamin, Adam Becker would hit into a flyout ending the game for the Generals. The Generals would lose the game 3-2 and lose their fourth straight game.

The Generals will finish off this week with two games with Baton Rouge Rougarou starting tomorrow and finishing on Friday night as the Generals continue their promotion-filled week for Generals fans with tomorrow being Diamonds on the Diamond presented by Deutsch & Deutsch with diamonds being given away to a lucky fan.
