LAST GAME: Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, lost their third straight game to the Montgomery Biscuits on Thursday evening, undone by a six-run sixth inning in a 10-9 loss at The Ballpark at Jackson. The Generals (68-52) dropped the series to Montgomery (79-44) with the loss, marking just the second time in their past nine series that Jackson has not won or split the set.

TODAY'S PITCHERS: Pasadena, California native Jeff Bain makes his first start at Double-A after pitching to a 3.95 ERA in 23 games at High-A Visalia. Bain has been a Midseason All-Star each of the last two years, and he led the Cal League in strikeouts with 152 when he was called up. He's going up against Mill Valley, California native Kenny Rosenberg, who is trying for his league-leading 12th win of the year. Rosenberg posted a 1.59 ERA in July without giving up a homer, but he's allowed three jacks over his ten innings of work in August, conceding nine runs (all earned) this month.

MATCHUP NIGHTMARE: The Generals have only two players on their present roster who are hitting over .250 against Montgomery this year: Daulton Varsho (.349) and Galli Cribbs Jr. (.313). Likewise, they also have only four pitchers with an ERA below 4.00 against the Biscuits in more than four innings of work: Kevin McCanna, Matt Peacock, Cole Stapler, and Emilio Vargas. Meanwhile, six Biscuits are hitting over .250 against Jackson, and eight Biscuits pitchers hold a sub-4.00 ERA against them.

ALL-STAR 2020: On July 29, the Jackson Generals announced that they would play host to the 2020 Southern League All-Star Game at The Ballpark at Jackson, their first All-Star Game since 2011.
