MUSKEGON, MI - The Flint Generals and the Muskegon Lumberjacks combined for 26 goals in the past two games, but the second half of the home and home proved to be a tough for the defense of both teams. In the end, the Lumberjacks held on to edge the Generals 8-7 in a contest that featured 13 goals in the final 40 minutes.

The Generals took the play to the Muskegon Lumberjacks all period long, but it was the home team that netted the first goal shorthanded to make it 1-0. Flint pulled even when Steve Rymsha notched his fifth from Matt Elich and John DiPace. There were a total of three power plays in the first period and no goals were tallied on the man advantage.

There was a six goal explosion in the middle stanza, as the Generals scored at the beginning and the end and the teams went to the dressing room tied 4-4. Josef Fojtik and John DiPace tallied 1:15 apart to make it 3-1. Muskegon netted three goals five minutes apart to take a 4-3 advantage, but near the end of the stanza Jared Dumba added his second of the period on the power play from Fojtik and Kyle Deck. It's the Generals 17th power play goal of the season.

In the third period the offensive display continued with seven more goals including two via the power play. Muskegon had four goals including the game winner by Chad Woollard late in the final stanza. The Generals rallied with three of their own as Matt Elich and Steve Rymsha had the Generals within two and it was 8-6.
