The Gems took home ice at Hara Arena tonight to battle the Prairie Thunder. Bloomington took control of the game early when they scored only 2:15 into the game. Before the halfway mark of the period they scored again on a power play. The Gems answered less than 2 minutes later with a goal from A.J. MacLean and cut Bloomington's lead to 2 to 1. The Prairie Thunder would score two more goals before the end of the 1stperiod with a 4 to 1 advantage over the Gems. In the 2ndperiod Dayton's MacLean would find the net for the 2ndtime tonight with assists from Adam Maccarone and John Snowden on a Gems power play. Bloomington would score 3 more goals before the period would end with Bloomington ahead 5 - 2. The Gems would lead off the 3rdwith a shorthanded goal from Jon Ornelas assisted by Goaltender Derek MacIntyre. The Prairie Thunder would score their last goal with less than 5 minutes left in the game. Dayton's Mike Olynyk would put one more in the net on another power play with the aid of Corey Couturier and Matt Maccarone. Ending the evening with the Prairie Thunder 8 - Dayton 4.

Sunday, March 21st at Hara Arena the Gems will meet the Fort Wayne Komets for a 5pm game it will be Scout Night. Local Scout troops will be recognized at the game. The evening will begin with local country music star Jesse Lyn Fisher from the Lebanon Grand Opry singing the National Anthem. Groups are welcome and fund raising programs are available. Following the game be sure to bring your skates for our final Skate with the Team evening for this season.
Upcoming events include: Trading Card Nights, An evening with the King - Elvis Tribute Concert following the game, Singles Night - sponsored by Single Source News, Generation Dayton Night, Restaurant Employees Night, Jersey Auctions and visits from the Gem City Roller Girls and Bud Girls. Don't forget all Wednesdays are Dollar Beer night and Frothy Fridays have $2 drafts.
Monday evenings join the Gems at Fox and Hound in Beavercreek at 9pm as they become Dayton Icon judges. Thursdays have lunch with the players at Brixx downtown. See you at noon!
