The Gems have signed left-handed pitcher Bret Hartnett, left-handed pitcher/ outfielder Connor Moore, and catcher/ outfielder Austen Brand.
Hartnett is a 6'5" 210 lbs. redshirt freshman, who prepped at Kentwood High School in Kent, Washington, where he earned All-League honorable mention his senior season. Gems head coach Mitch Karraker said, "Brett will be a great addition to the staff with a big frame throwing from the left side, we expect him to make it tough on opposing hitters this summer."
Moore is a 5'10" 160 lb. freshman, who attended Richland High School in West Richland, WA. Lettering three years in high school, Moore led Richland High to three playoff appearances and earned a Golden Glove award his senior season. "Moore will be a two way player for the Gems as a pitcher and getting time at all three outfield positions this summer," said Coach Karraker.
Brand, a 5'9" 170 lb freshman catcher and outfielder attended Stadium High School in Tacoma, WA. He was an All-League outfielder his sophomore, junior and senior seasons, as well as winning a state title on the varsity swim team. "Austen has the ability to play multiple positions. He will get time behind the plate as well as in the outfield this summer for the Gems," said Coach Karraker.
"Anytime you can get players that can play multiple positions it's important to jump on the opportunity, they are especially useful at the beginning and end of the season," said General Manager Grant Wilson. "I've had a strong relationship with Coach Donny Harrel from Seattle University for 4 years now and he always sends quality players," added Wilson.
