Gelinas Grabs Pitcher of the Week Honor

DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Quebec Capitales RHP Karl Gelinas has been named this week's Pointstreak Pitcher of the Week for the week ending June 21.

Gelinas made two starts this week, and picked up two victories. His first start, which came Tuesday, June 16 against the New Jersey Jackals, was dominant. Gelinas threw a complete game shutout, allowing only three hits and a walk with five strikeouts in a 5-0 win. He returned to the hill on Sunday, and beat the Sussex County Miners on the road. Over 6.2 innings, Gelinas allowed four runs with no walks and two strikeouts as the Capitales beat the Miners 6-5.

On the year, Gelinas is now an impressive 5-0 with a 2.87 ERA through six starts. In 40.2 innings, he has 31 strikeouts to a mere four walks.

A veteran of the Can-Am League, Gelinas has played with the Capitales since 2007. He last won the Pitcher of the Week award for the week ending June 1, 2014.

The Capitales are 16-10 and sit a half game behind the first-place Rockland Boulders in the Can-Am League standings.
