Cardullo Named Player of the Week

DURHAM, NC- The official statistician of the Can-Am League, Pointstreak, has announced that Rockland Boulders OF Stephen Cardullo has been named this week's Pointstreak Player of the Week for the week ending June 21.

Cardullo went 12-for-28 at the plate this week, helping the Boulders to a 5-2 record. He had four doubles, a home run and three RBI over the course of the week.

The Coral Springs, Fla. resident began the week with the first of his four multi-hit games, a 2-for-5 night on Monday at the Ottawa Champions. He notched a double and scored a run as the Boulders won 5-3. The next two nights, Cardullo recorded single hits despite a pair of Rockland losses. When the Boulders returned home to Provident Bank Park on Thursday, Cardullo's bat really started to heat up. He went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two walks on Thursday as the Boulders beat the Shikoku Island All-Stars 14-3. A night later, Rockland topped the Japanese visitors again, this time by a count of 10-2. Cardullo contributed a pair of hits, including his lone home run on the week. Rockland clinched a series victory on Saturday with a 7-2 win, and Cardullo went 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI. He capped off the week with a 2-for-4 game on Sunday where both of his hits were doubles.

On the season, Cardullo is now batting an impressive .361 (35-for-97) with six doubles, two triples, four home runs, 15 RBI and 22 runs scored .

This is Cardullo's third year with the Boulders. He hit .267 with 56 RBI for the club in 2013, appearing in all 100 ballgames. In 2014, Cardullo carried a .298 average with six home runs and 51 RBI.

Rockland is now 17-10 and enjoys a half-game lead in the Can-Am League standings. They open a home series with the Sussex County Miners tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Provident Bank Park in Pomona, N.Y. That game, like all Can-Am League games, is available live and for free at www.canamleague.tv.
