Minot, ND - A two-goal third period propelled the St. Cloud Norsemen to the 3-1 victory over the Minot Minotauros for the teams opening win of the season.
Minot opened the scoring with a breakaway goal from Kyle Kukkonen midway through the opening frame. The lead was short-lived, as Blake Mesenburg tied the game for St. Cloud with a powerplay goal.
In the third period, Blake Perbix, following a three-assist performance from the night before, netted his first goal of the season to give the Norsemen the 2-1 lead. Later in the period, Nik Hong added an insurance goal to secure the 3-1 victory.
With the win, the Norsemen are 1-6-0 and will focus their attention to Tuesday's matchup with the Bismarck Bobcats.
Mark Shelley will provide the play-by-play of the game on the Lyon Sheet Metal & Heating Norsemen Network beginning at 7:00 PM CT.
