BRADENTON, FLA.: RHP Kevin Gausman looked stout in his first rehab start since suffering an injury with the Braves last month, but a three-run third and late add-ons paced a 5-3 Bradenton Marauders win against the Florida Fire Frogs on Friday night at LECOM Park.

Gausman (0-1) notched six strikeouts over five frames, giving up five hits, a walk, and three earned runs in 72 pitches. He hurdled an additional obstacle, having to wait out a 49-minute delayed start due to a storm that hit the ballpark right around the scheduled first pitch time.

A walk to Raul Siri and a single from Travis Swaggerty to start off the third ended up hurting Gausman. Lolo Sanchez brought in Siri with a sacrifice fly. Oneil Cruz blasted his third long ball of the season to center to catapult the Bradenton lead up to 3-0.

Swaggerty accounted for four of the 10 Marauders hits in what was his first four-hit effort of his career.

LHP Philip Pfeifer replaced Gausman in the sixth. Deon Stafford was able to drive a two-out RBI knock to score Cal Mitchell for a 4-0 Marauders advantage.

Florida pulled to within a tally at 4-3 with a patient rally in the seventh. Jefrey Ramos was hit by a RHP Logan Stoelke pitch to start the charge. Kevin Josephina singled and Brett Langhorne drew a walk to load the bases. Shean Michel, Riley Delgado, and CJ Alexander each received bases loaded free passes to make the game close. New pitcher RHP Samuel Reyes escaped from the inning by getting Trey Harris to fly out.

Stoelke yielded a hit, four walks, and three earned runs while recording just two outs. Reyes earned his second save of the season, holding the Fire Frogs to a hit and two walks with a pair of punchouts over 2 and 1/3's stanzas.

Marauders starter RHP Brad Case (2-1) was electric, turning in six shutout innings of one-hit baseball while working around three walks and mixing in five Ks as part of his winning effort.

Rodolfo Castro reached on a throwing error from Pfeifer in the eighth and would later be plated on a two-out RBI base hit from Lucas Tancas for a 5-3 Bradenton edge.

Both runs against Pfeifer were unearned as the Fire Frogs had a defensive miscue in the sixth and the eighth. Pfeifer allowed five hits and a walk while fanning four across three stanzas.

Florida had the tying run on base in the last two stanzas but couldn't break through.

It was a patient night at the plate for Ramos, who went 1-1 with two walks, was hit by a pitch, and scored a run. Josephina has now reached base in 18 of his last 20 assignments when he recorded a knock and scored as part of the productive seventh.

In his first 2019 game with the Fire Frogs, CJ Alexander was 0-3 at the dish but did coax two walks, including a bases loaded free pass to grab his first RBI.

Ender Inciarte participated in his fourth game with Florida. He went 0-3 with the bat and played five innings out in center field before Michel replaced him in the sixth.

NEXT UP: Florida looks to end a six-game slide behind the arm of LHP Hayden Deal (3-7, 2.81) on Saturday evening. RHP Gavin Wallace throws the first pitch for Bradenton at 6:30 p.m.
