Gators Struggle to Break Losing Streak

April 27, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Twin City Gators News Release

( Monroe, LA) The Twin City Gators look to break a streak and extract some revenge when they host the Beaumont Drillers in an NIFL contest Saturday night in The Gator pit at the Monroe Civic Center. The Gators will be trying to break their season long five game losing steak as they continue their two game home stand.

The Gators lost to Beaumont, in Beaumont, Texas, in week three of the season 52-39 and hope they can do what it takes to extract revenge on the Drillers in what will be the third home contest of the year. In that loss the Gators out gained the Drillers in total yards 237 to 195 but could not put the ball in the end zone to make the most of their efforts.

While the Drillers were six of six in the red zone and had two fumbles, the Gators floundered and were only three of six inside the Driller 20-yard line having a field goal blocked and three interceptions.

Beaumont will enter the contest at 3-2, 2-1 holding onto a one-half game lead over Katy in the Pacific South Division. The Gators will enter the fray at 0-5, 0-3 trailing the third place Arkansas Stars by one-and-a-half games.

Last week the Drillers had their three game winning streak snapped when they lost a 50-28 decision on the road to the Wyoming Cavalry. So far this year the Drillers are 3-0 at home and 0-2 on the road.

While the Drillers were getting drilled in Wyoming, the Gators were getting the same thing from the Arkansas Stars 53-35 in the Gator Pit. With the loss the Gators fell to 0-2 at home. After Saturday's contest the Gators will be on the road the next two weeks facing the Lakeland Thunderbolts and the Arkansas Stars before returning to the Pit on Saturday, May 20 when they open a three-game home stand against the Greensboro Revolution.

Tickets to all Gator home games may be purchased at the Monroe Civic Center Box Office Daily from 10 AM to 6 PM or online at Ticketmaster. Ticket prices for all games are $15 for Sideline Box Seats, $10 Upper Sideline Seats and $7 for all end zone seats.
