February 23, 2006 - National Indoor Football League (NIFL)
Twin City Gators News Release

Tryouts for the Monroe's newest professional arena football team, the Twin City Gators, are scheduled for Thursday at 5:30PM in the West Monroe High School football stadium. Co-owner Lawrence Vaughn said, "We are very proud to have two outstanding coaches leading our team. Coach Don Shows of West Monroe High School and Coach John Carr from Ouachita High School."

These two men will head an NIFL team that is set to play their first game in Chattanooga, Tennessee on March 11, 2006, where they will face the Tennessee River Sharks. "Our first home game will be in the Monroe Civic Center Arena against Charlotte Fusion out of North Carolina," said Vaughn.

To qualify for tryouts for the Twin City Gators, a player must be at least 19 years of age and have some football experience. Since all players chosen will sign a professional contract of the National Indoor Football League, they will then invalidate their college eligibility.

Vaughn, originally from Mangham now lives in Monroe and is co-owner of the Twin City Gators with Leonal Hardman, another Louisiana native from the Mangham area. The Twin City Gators have set up their offices in the Monroe Civic Center, now their home arena. Work has begun on season ticket sales which will allow patrons to see seven home games at a price starting at only $85.00. "We are excited to be able to offer three levels of season tickets at a very affordable price. It is a great value to buy the season ticket, but we will be selling individual game tickets a week prior to each game," said Vaughn.
