Gary SouthShore Railcats News Release
Gary, Ind.- Last season the Gary SouthShore RailCats brought home many awards to U.S. Steel Yard. Some were individual awards, while the biggest of them all had to be the second Northern League Championship in three years.
This time the RailCats have an opportunity to win without even taking the field, as CNBC has gathered some of the best Minor League baseball logos in the country and entered them into a March Madness tournament of their own. There will be one winner, as Darren Rovell has chosen the top 64 logos similar to the NCAA tournament, but everyone now has the opportunity to vote at http://www.cnbc.com/id/15837629/.
The RailCats knocked off the Chico Outlaws of the Golden Baseball League in emphatic fashion by winning 61 percent of the votes in the first round; which finished up at 10 a.m. on March 18.
The second round has the 6th seeded RailCats matching up against the 14th seeded Lehigh Valley IronPigs of the International League in the round of 32. Other Northern League teams are still alive in the field; which include the Joliet JackHammers and Kansas City T-Bones.
The RailCats begin defense of their 2007 Northern League title on May 15th when they host Joliet in the 2008 season opener. Call (219) 882-2255 for ticket information.
