Aiken Foxhounds News Release

AIKEN , S.C. - Casey Garrison hit a two-run game-winning home run in the top of the ninth as the Macon Music (24-11) finished off a three-game sweep of the Aiken Foxhounds (19-16) at Roberto Hernandez Stadium, defeating the Hounds 8-6.

Facing Aiken reliever Steve Dunham (2-4), Macon's Mike Deveux led off the ninth with a single. Garrison, who had pounded two grand slams in a game during the Music's last trip to Aiken, then hit an 0-2 pitch to deep left field to put his team ahead.

Rudy Quinonez struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to finish off the win and the sweep for the Music. Quinonez (2-1) pitched two innings of perfect relief and struck out five batters to earn the victory.

For the second time in as many days, the Music offense hit the Foxhounds starter hard early in the game. In the first inning, Macon plated a run off Aiken's Devin Rogers when K.J. Hendricks led off with a double and scored on a Scott Robinson double.

Two innings later, Macon struck again, this time plating five runs on five hits to chase Rogers from the game after just 2.1 innings. Dorian Rojas led off the inning with a home run, and Garrison plated two runs with a double to provide the bulk of the damage.

Anthony Telford relieved Rogers to get the final two outs of the third before shutting the Music bats down over the next four innings. In all, the righty tossed 4.2 innings, allowing just four hits and no runs.

With Telford dealing on the mound, the Foxhounds' offense was provided a chance to rally. The Hounds got two of the runs back in the bottom of the third on a Chad Miller double.

Macon starter Vern Sterry left the game after getting the Foxhounds in order in the fourth inning, forcing manager Phil Plantier to go to his bullpen early. Francis Finnerty drove in a run in the fourth with an RBI single, and another run crossed the plate to make it 6-4 when the ball was misplayed by the left fielder.

With one out in the sixth, Scott Houin got the Hounds to within one run with a solo home run to center. Garth McKinney then scored to tie the game after bunting his way on to first base on a single by Bradley Key and a throwing error.

Houin and McKinney provided the bulk of the offense for Aiken, as both players collected three hits and scored three runs apiece.

Garrison finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI for the Music. Sterry, Deveux, Ismael Castro, and K.J. Hendricks added two hits apiece as Macon pounded out 16 hits in the contest.

Aiken returns to action on Thursday when they begin a three-game series at Anderson.
