
Garcia on DL; 'Caps Roster at 24 Active Players

COMSTOCK PARK, MI - The Detroit Tigers and West Michigan Whitecaps announced today that Ramon Garcia has been placed on the disabled list with a sore shoulder. The left handed pitcher has missed two scheduled starts - June 3 and June 26 - due to the same shoulder soreness.
The 21-year-old Dominican Republic native was ranked among the top pitchers in the Midwest League most of the season. He is currently ranked second in the league with a 1.92 ERA. He is tied for fourth in the league with seven wins, tied for third with two complete games and tied for first with two shutouts. He is 7-2 in 12 starts, and he has given up just 17 runs (16 earned), 51 hits and 11 walks while striking out 55 in 75.0 innings of work.
Garcia was recently named to the Eastern Division All-Star team but did not make an appearance in the game. The move leaves the the Whitecaps roster at 24 active players with three on the disabled list.
