Mavs Minutes

Second Line Dominant

The play of the second line of Corey Durocher-Mark Cooper-Jared VanWormer over the pair of games against Fort Wayne to carry the load on the offensive end against the Komets. All three went for multiple points in Friday's game, highlighted by a pair of goals from Cooper and the game-winning goal from Durocher as well as two helpers from VanWormer. Saturday belonged to No. 17, who potted two power play goals and tallied the game-winner in the third period to cap a four-point weekend for himself.

Carlson Shines Against Komets

Adam Carlson was a big reason the Mavericks were able to emerge with two wins over Fort Wayne, helping slow the league's top-scoring offense to five goals over two games. Carlson turned away 66 of 71 shots faced over the two games, a .930 Save Percentage, and did not allow a third period goal in either game. The Washington Capitals prospect stopped 39 of 42 shots faced in Saturday's win to close out the sweep.

Mountain Climbers

The Mavericks begin a five-game stretch against Mountain Division opponents, four of which come on the road over the next two weeks of play. KC has been comfortable against the Mountain Division this season, owning a 14-11-0-1 against teams from that division - the team's best record against any division in the ECHL. KC enters this week with a record of 1-1-0-1 against Colorado, Wednesday's opponent, and 0-0-0-0 against Idaho, who the Mavericks face this weekend.

On The Road Again

The Mavericks hit the road for the first time since a three-game trip to Ohio on Feb. 8-10, following a season-long eight-game home stand. Overall, 16 of the Mavericks' last 19 games have taken place at home, with the Mavericks going 8-7-0-1 in the stretch at home including last weekend's sweep of Fort Wayne. The Mavericks begin this road swing with a record of 14-12-0-0 in away games this year.

Playoff Picture

The pair of weekend wins combined with two losses from Kalamazoo over the weekend leaves the Mavericks just one point out of playoff position and has the Wings down to one game in hand on KC. Since the team's eight-game losing streak, the Mavericks have won four of their last five games with two weekend sweeps - one over Allen and one over Fort Wayne. The Wings, meanwhile, are now 2-7-1-0 in their last 10 games.
