New England Revolution News Release
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Revolution will visit the Philadelphia Union on Sunday afternoon on MLS Decision Day 2020 presented by AT&T. The nationally televised match kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC and ESPN Deportes, and will also air locally on the radio with Brad Feldman and Charlie Davies calling the action on 98.5 The Sports Hub. WBIX 1260 AM Nossa Radio USA will also carry the game locally with Portuguese commentary.
New England (8-6-8, 32 pts.) heads into Sunday's regular-season finale in sixth place in the Eastern Conference standings. A win or a draw would guarantee the Revolution the No. 6 seed and a bye past the Play-In Round, after which they would play the east's third-place team in Round 1 of the Audi 2020 MLS Cup Playoffs. While the Revs' back line has its eyes on a club record for fewest goals against per game, the offense is riding high after a 4-3 win over D.C. United last Sunday. In the comeback victory, leading scorer Teal Bunbury notched his seventh and eighth goals of 2020, and all three Designated Players - Carles Gil, Gustavo Bou, and Adam Buksa - saw action, with Buksa adding his sixth MLS goal.
The Revolution have been difficult to beat on the road this season, posting a 6-3-3 record away from Foxborough including the neutral-site games in the MLS is Back Tournament. New England can set a club record with a seventh regular season win away from home. On the other hand, Philadelphia (13-4-5, 44 pts.), first overall in the MLS standings entering Decision Day, is a perfect 8-0-0 at home this season. The Union, tied on points with Toronto FC, are looking to finish the day atop the league to claim their first Supporters' Shield.
Diego Fagundez enters the final regular season game with his eyes on Revolution history, as he remains tied with Shalrie Joseph (261) for the most regular season games in club history. Fagundez matched his former teammate's record at age 25 on Oct. 28, nine years younger than Joseph when he played his 261st game at 34. The Revs' first Homegrown Player signing and a Massachusetts product, Fagundez owns 53 goals and 45 assists with the club, second and third in club annals, respectively.
