Northern Arizona Wranglers News Release

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - The Northern Arizona Wranglers will play their final home game on Pinnacle Bank Field at the Findlay Toyota Center, on Saturday evening, as they take on the Massachusetts Pirates.

The Wranglers currently hold a 6-7 record on the 2023 season, and will be playing their final home game against the Pirates, who come into the game with a 9-4 record. The Wranglers enter this showdown with the Pirates coming off a bye week, and two consecutive losses prior to the bye. The Pirates lost a competitive game to the Arizona Rattlers last weekend, and that game made National headlines for reasons outside of the scoreboard. Three Pirates' players, along with assistant coach Patrick Pass were suspended by the Indoor Football League indefinitely due to an altercation with fans in the stands.

The Wranglers currently hold the fourth and final Playoff spot in the IFL's Western Conference, while the Pirates hold the number two spot in the Eastern Conference. Both teams will be fired up and fighting for a victory to keep their Playoff positioning intact. This major matchup will be between the last two IFL National Champions prior to this season, with the Wranglers winning most recently in 2022. The Wranglers will be aiming to win and heat up going into the 2023 Playoffs. The Wranglers and Pirates only prior meeting was in 2021, in which Massachusetts got the victory. Both teams are vastly different since the last time they battled, each winning a National Championship and facing more changes that would follow.

The Wranglers are ready to rise to the challenge against a tough Eastern Conference opponent. The Wranglers will need to be more efficient in the red zone offensively to get the victory, and should be well-rested and focused after the bye week. The Wranglers defensive unit will also be challenged by the Pirates third-ranked scoring offense. The Northern Arizona defense dropped to the number two ranked scoring defense during the bye, averaging just .1 more points per game allowed than the Frisco Fighters.

Will the Wranglers take another step towards securing their Playoff spot with a victory against the Pirates? Come watch the Wranglers compete on Pinnacle Bank Field at the Findlay Toyota Center to find out! Details on how to get tickets will be included at the end of this game preview below.
