Team Scope:
PENSACOLA - The Ice Flyers are hot once again and are looking to match their season long win streak with a win over the IceGators. But Louisiana is the team that snapped the Ice Flyers' last win streak. Right now, the Ice Flyers are riding Steve Christie in net, who was just recently named the SPHL Player Of The Month. He now boasts a 9-2-0 record, 2.08 goals against average, and a 0.931 save percentage. Adam Ward has a record of 3-6-1, 3.52 GAA, and a 0.875 SV%. Jordan Chong and Dan Buccella lead the team in scoring with 20 points. Matthew Robinson leads the team with 11 goals while Chong and Ryan Salvis each have 11 assists.
The Ice Flyers' full weekend continues on Friday when they travel to Huntsville, Alabama to take on the Havoc before returning to The Hangar to face the Knoxville Ice Bears on Saturday.
LOUISIANA - The IceGators finished 2011 with a bitter taste in their mouth. After beating the Ice Flyers 5-2 last Tuesday they went on to beat the Mississippi RiverKings 3-2 before being shutout 6-0 the next night by the RiverKings. Louisiana relies on Dan Earles and B.J. O'Brien in net. Earles is 6-1-0 with a 2.66 GAA and a 0.902 SV%. O'Brien has an overall record of 6-4-1, a 2.73 GAA, and a 0.909 SV% with Augusta and Louisiana. The IceGators leading scorer continues to be Jason Hill with 40 points. Brayden Metz leads the team with 15 goals. Not surprisingly, Hill leads the team with 27 assists.
After taking on the Ice Flyers, the IceGators will return to the Cajundome to take on the Columbus Cottonmouths on both Friday and Saturday.
