Copa Tejas: Saturday's match with El Paso will be SAFC's first Copa Tejas match of the season, hosting reigning Copa Tejas champ El Paso Locomotive FC. Since its inception in 2019, Copa Tejas has pitted all Texas-based USL Championship teams against each other as part of USL play. Standings are based off of head-to-head matchups, with the winner decided at the end of the regular season. Last month's SAFC win at RGV FC does not count towards the Copa Tejas standings, as the two sides will see each other three times this season instead of twice.
Among the Best in the West: SAFC's 4-1-0 start has the club third in the USL Championship Western Conference. Only four other USL Championship clubs, and two in the Western Conference, have more than SAFC's 12 points on the season. SAFC is just four points back of first-place San Diego Loyal SC's total of 16 points, despite San Diego playing two more matches.
