Louisville City FC News Release
Memphis 901 FC heads to Kentucky to take on Louisville City FC for its second of three matches this week.
Tuesday's match at 6:30 p.m. CT will be featured on ESPN3 as this week's USL Championship Game of the Week.
Memphis is coming off a 1-0 defeate to the Charleston Battery just 72 hours prior at home. The club looks to snap a three-match losing streak against a Louisville club that's also fighting for a Top 10 position (playoffs) in the Eastern Conference standings. Memphis is looking to break its scoring drought as the club last found the back of the net on April 6. Captain Marc Burch leads the team with two goals so far this season.
For the back-to-back defending leauge champions Louisville, the club aims to build on its recent form that features two wins and a draw. Abdou Mbacke Thiam leads the club in scoring with two goals.
FATHER VS. SON
Tuesday's match will offer a family dynamic as 901 FC midfielder Morgan Hackworth will take on a Louisville club coached by his father, John Hackworth. John Hackworth took over for Louisville last season, guiding the team to a title. Morgan is in his rookie season and has seen significant playing time with 901 FC.
WE MEET AGAIN
Although Tuesday will be the first competative match between Memphis and Louisville, both squads met during the preseason for a friendly in Nashville. Adam Najem and Elliot Collier both recorded goals in that match for Memphis. Louisville took the result 4-2. GRAF DEBUT
Late into Saturday's match against Charleston, Memphis saw another player make his debut this season. This time it was forward Jochen Graf, who was acquired 48 hours prior from the New York Cosmos. Graf played 12 minutes and completed 75 percent of his passes.
LETHAL LINDLEY
Midfielder Cam Lindley's encore act in the midfield was just as good as his debut two weeks prior in Nashville. One of Memphis' latest additions continues to show his knack for connecting the defense and attack. Lindley had the most passes Saturday (64) and created three chances on goal. His accuracy was spot on as he posted an 80 percent rate.
IMPROVED POSSESSION
Despite Saturday's result, Memphis showed improvement when it came to possesion. The first half was arguablly the best the club has played all year as Memphis kept the ball 81 percent of the time. That's the best first half since March 16 against Loudoun United.
