Game Day Preview: Pats Wrap Season Series with Warriors in Moose Jaw

The Regina Pats (33-24-5-1) carry a four game win streak into Saturday night on the road against the Moose Jaw Warriors (44-12-1-2). Puck drop is at 7 p.m. at Mosaic Place. The Pats were in Saskatoon on Friday night and picked up a 7-5 win. The Warriors were last in action on Wednesday, losing 4-2 in Swift Current to the Broncos. Tonight is the eighth and final meeting on the season between the Pats and Warriors, Regina holds a 2-4-1-0 record in the season series. The game can be heard starting at 6:35 with Bennett Dunlop Ford Pats Hockey on 620 CKRM, it will also be broadcast on Access 7.

The Lead Up: Pats mount huge comeback in Saskatoon for fourth straight win

The Regina Pats came back from down 4-0 to beat the Blades 7-5 in Saskatoon Friday night. The Blades scored three times in the first and once at the midway point of the second to take that 4-0 lead. The Pats got on the board on the powerplay when Cameron Hebig hammered a one timer for his 40th. Two minutes later Koby Morrisseau scored on a two on one for his third and the Pats trailed 4-2 after 40 minutes. 58 seconds into the third, Robbie Holmes picked up his 14th to cut the lead to 4-3 and then Matt Bradley tied it with his 36th at 3:43 and it was a 4-4 game. The Blades took the lead back just 25 seconds later but once again the Pats drew even when Sam Steel tipped a point shot for his 24th. It stayed 5-5 until Jared Legien gave the Pats the lead with a breakaway goal for his 21st and it was 6-5. Matt Bradley added an empty netter for his second of the night, 37th of the season and the Pats picked up a fourth straight win in a 7-5 final. Matt Bradley, Sam Steel and Cameron Hebig led the offence with three point nights while Jacob Wassermann made 24 saves to pick up his first WHL win in his first start.

Head to Head

Tonight is the eighth and final meeting between the Pats and Warriors, Regina is 2-4-1-0 in the season series. The Pats are led by Josh Mahura who has five goals and 13 points against Moose Jaw. Sam Steel and Cameron Hebig are next with 10 points while Libor Hajek has eight. The Warriors Jayden Halbgewachs has put up 15 points against Regina, Brett Howden has 10 points and Tanner Jeannot and Kale Clague have seven.

250 Career Games

Pats captain Sam Steel suited up for his 250th career WHL game on Friday night in Saskatoon. The Anaheim Ducks prospect put up a goal and two assists Friday and sits with 114 goals and 211 assists for 325 points in those 250 games. Steel currently sits four points back of Brian Varga (329 points) who is the 12 all-time leading scorer in franchise history. The 19-year-old enters Saturday on a five game point streak where he has put up three goals and six assists.
