Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals were edged 2-1 by the Portland Winterhawks, as Matthew Phillips became the first player in Royals' history to earn 100 points in a single season, on Friday night at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

Century Mark - With his 100th point tonight, Matthew Phillips is now only one away from tying the franchise record for most points in a single season. The record is held by former Chilliwack Bruin Mark Santorelli who registered 101 points (27g-74a) in the 2007-08 campaign.
Powerplay Prowess - With a man-advantage goal tonight, Victoria now scored on the powerplay 74 times this season which is the most among all WHL clubs. The Royals' are now a man-advantage goal away from tying the Victoria record for most powerplay tallies in a season with 75, which was set in the 2015-16 campaign.
Prospect Showdown - Both the NHL's Detroit Red Wings and San Jose Sharks had prospects take part in tonight's contest. The Red Wings were represented by Victoria's Lane Zablocki and Portland's Dennis Cholowski, whereas the Sharks had the Royals' Noah Gregor and the Winterhawks' Joachim Blichfeld skate in the contest.
Island Kid - Portland's Brendan De Jong played in his hometown tonight. The 1998-born defenceman was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the sixth round, 166th overall, in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. De Jong previously played for both the Saanich and Juan de Fuca Minor Hockey Associations before he joined the Winterhawks in the 2014-15 season.
