Rivals Reunite

The I-5 Rivalry was reignited earlier this month with a back-to-back set in each team's home barn, with Portland taking victories in both contests to separate the first-place Hawks from their northern competition.

Of course, tonight's foe is hardly the same one it was at the start of this month. Since the clubs' last meeting, Seattle has seen the return of leading scorer Jared Davidson and spent significant draft capital to add two new star defensemen in Luke Prokop - a 2020 third-round pick of the Nashville Predators - and Nolan Allan - selected by Chicago in the first round of the 2021 draft. Those two join a blue line corps that already features fellow Chicago first-rounder Kevin Korchinski to solidify the T-Birds' back end.

Despite no shiny new toys of their own, the Winterhawks continue to roll with wins in nine straight and a 12-game point streak to go with it as they sit seven points clear of Seattle with two more games played. Injuries to forwards Kyle Chyzowski, Diego Buttazzoni and Luke Schelter have dealt a tough blow, but others like Marcus Nguyen, Aidan Litke and Dawson Pasternak have stepped up to fill in the gaps. Tonight's matchup is another stiff test for a Hawks team that is thriving through adversity, and they'll be keen to meet it right from puck drop in Kent.

Back On TV!

Heat up those leftovers, put on your comfy pants and stake your claim to the best seat on the couch - the Battle with Seattle is back on Portland's CW!

For the first time on the road this year, you can tune in to channel 3 & 703 HD to catch tonight's Winterhawks action! And don't miss out on the remaining eight games on Portland's CW throughout the rest of the season!

McCleary's 100th

Last week's OT hero is set to celebrate a milestone tonight!

Defenseman Ryan McCleary is expected to skate in what will be his 100th WHL game this evening. The third-year blueliner boasts 12 goals and 36 assists for 48 points through 99 career games thus far, and is producing at a career-best clip with four goals and seven helpers through just 18 games this season.

The Swift Current, Sask. product was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the fifth round, #107 overall, of the 2021 NHL Draft following his first campaign in the Rose City.
