Game Day: Follow Along with LouCity-Indy Eleven
September 16, 2020 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Louisville City FC News Release
At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Wednesday's game is a big one.
Either Louisville City FC (7-3-2, 23 points) or Indy Eleven (7-4-1, 22 points) will leave a 7 p.m. meeting at Lucas Oil Stadium atop the USL Championship's Group E table with just three games to play in their regular seasons.
For LouCity, it's a chance to create four points of separation from second place and as many as seven to third, also the postseason cutoff line.
For Indy, there's the opportunity to return to first and end some frustration in the Louisville-Indianapolis Proximity Association Football Contest, in which the Eleven haven't won since May of 2018.
Prior meetings between the two this year include a 1-1 draw and 1-0 LouCity win at Lynn Family Stadium. Most recently, the boys in purple did all their scoring in the first half of a 3-1 victory at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Since August began - coinciding with LouCity's seven-game unbeaten run - the club has diversified its scoring. Indy's offense continues to run through striker Tyler Pasher, who interestingly enough missed his side's last game; a 2-1 win over Sporting KC II marked the first victory of the season for the Eleven in which Pasher didn't score.
Here's how to follow along with a game crucial for multiple reasons, with a full LouCity-Indy Eleven preview also available.
