GREEN BAY
Head Coach: Mark Mazzoleni (1st year) Last Weekend: The Gamblers went 1-2-0 over the weekend. The victory over came on Saturday night at the Resch Center in a 6-4 decision over the Sioux City Musketeers. Billy Smith and Blake Wheeler provided much of the offense, each recording two goals and an assist. Goaltender Michael Zacharias picked up his first win as a Gambler with a 34-save performance.
Homecoming: Forward Dan Sturges, who had two goals last weekend, will make his first appearance in Young Arena since being traded to the Gamblers prior to the season. In two seasons with the Black Hawks, Sturges appeared in 52 regular season games, registering three goals and three assists
Former #1: Defenseman Spencer Dillon was the Black Hawks number-one pick at the 2002 USHL Entry Draft. Dillon, who played the last two seasons in Salmon Arm (BCJHL), never reported to Waterloo
Injury Update: Third-year forward Corey Couturier will be out of the line-up this weekend with an ankle injury. There is no definite timeline when Couturier will return to the Gamblers line-up.
College Commitment: Defenseman Garrett Suter has committed to the University of Wisconsin. Suter, is the 9th Gambler on the 2004-05 roster to have committed to a NCAA Division I institution.
WATERLOO
Head Coach: P.K O'Handley (3rd year) 2003-04: After clinching the 4th and final playoff spot in the USHL Eastern Division on the next to last day of the regular season, the Black Hawks defeated Chicago, Danville, and Tri City to capture the team's first Clark Cup in their 26-year history.
Olympic Style: Young Arena is the only venue in the USHL to have an Olympic size ice sheet (200 x 100)
Two for Stoughton: Forward Nathan Lawrence and Gamblers forward Mitch Kerns are both from Stoughton, Wisconsin.
Teammates: Forward Thomas Fortney and Gamblers goaltender Michael Zacharias were teammates last season in St. Louis.
U.S.A.: Forwards Scott Birnstill, Lawrence, and John Kemp all played last season in Ann Arbor, Michigan with United States Under-17 Development Team.
Badger Bound: Forward Zach Bearson is committed to the University of Wisconsin for the 2006-07 season.
He's Back: After one season at Ferris State, defenseman Jim Jensen has returned to the Black Hawks line-up. In 41 games with the Black Hawks in 2002-03, Jensen recorded 14 points.
