GREEN BAY
Head Coach: Mark Mazzoleni (1st year) Last Weekend: The Gamblers went 1-2-0 over the weekend. The victory over came on Saturday night at the Resch Center in a 6-4 decision over the Sioux City Musketeers. Billy Smith and Blake Wheeler provided much of the offense, each recording two goals and an assist. Goaltender Michael Zacharias picked up his first win as a Gambler with a 34-save performance.
Re-Match: Green Bay defeated the Lincoln Stars 8-0 at this year's Pre-Season Des Moines Buc Bowl. The game featured two fights, both between Randy King and Stars defenseman Chris Robinson and the teams combined for 144 minutes in penalties
Former Star: Defenseman Chris Stansik began the year with the Lincoln Stars. The Gamblers acquired Stansik, after the Pre-Season Buc Bowl. Injury Update: Third-year forward Corey Couturier will be out of the line-up this weekend with an ankle injury. There is no definite timeline when Couturier will return to the Gamblers line-up.
College Commitment: Defenseman Garrett Suter has committed to the University of Wisconsin. Suter, is the 9th Gambler on the 2004-05 roster to have committed to a NCAA Division I institution.
LINCOLN
Head Coach: Steve Johnson (9th year) 2003-04: For the first time in the team's 8-year history the Lincoln Stars both failed to make the Clark Cup Playoffs and finished the year with a losing record (27-29-4)
One of the Best: Stars head coach Steve Johnson sits 4th on the all time USHL coaching win list with 325 career wins.
Resch Center Blues: The Stars are 1-2-2 in five games at the Resch Center. Lincoln's last win at the Resch came during the 2002-03 season.
Madison to Lincoln: Defenseman Tom Sawatske spent the last two seasons with the Wisconsin Badgers. In 54 games with the Badgers, Sawatske notched 14 points .
North of the Border: Forward Brock Trotter played last season in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League (MJHL) with the Dauphin Kings. The MJHL is the same league that produced Gamblers forward Mark Magnowski
The Stats Lie: The Stars are 3-1-1 despite being outscored 18-15.
College Commitments: Goaltender Jordan Pearce (Notre Dame), defenseman Eli Vlaisavljevich (Michigan Tech), and forward Erik Condra (Notre Dame), and John Swanson (St. Cloud) are committed to NCAA Division I institutions.
