Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - Former Colorado Mammoth forward Gary Gait, who recently retired after leading the team in scoring for the third consecutive year, was named second-team All-Pro by the National Lacrosse League on Wednesday.
Gait, the Mammoth's captain and top offensive player since the team first took the floor in 2003, played 15 NLL seasons and is the league's all-time leader in goals and points. Gait was an All-Pro every year he played, with Wednesday's second-team selection coming after 14 consecutive first-team selections.
Gait led the Mammoth in 2005 with 81 points on 33 goals and 48 assists, good for a ninth-place finish in the league scoring race. The Victoria, British Columbia, native also collected 81 loose balls, scored one game-winning goal and earned one offensive player of the week honor.
Gait, who won this season's Sportsmanship Award for the second consecutive year, also served as the West Division's team captain at the 2005 NLL All-Star Game in Calgary, Alberta, and scored a goal in the contest.
The All-Pro Teams were chosen based on a vote by the head coaches, governors and general managers of the league's 10 member clubs.
