ASHEVILLE - The lone bright spot for the Asheville Tourists on Thursday night was starting pitcher Will Gaddis. The Tourists right-hander pitched seven innings for his third straight quality start; however, Asheville was blanked by the Hickory Crawdads 3-0.

Gaddis allowed only two runs and lowered his season ERA to 4.47. The Brentwood, TN native scattered six hits and worked out of a couple of jams in impressive fashion. Austin Moore pitched well in relief of Gaddis but the Crawdads managed a run off Moore in the ninth inning.

The Tourists offense generated next to nothing. Asheville finished the game with two hits; a first inning single by Ryan Vilade and a third inning single by Matt McLaughlin. Asheville struck out 11 times and never had a runner reach third base.

Hickory used three pitchers to combine for the shutout; A.J. Alexy, Alex Eubanks, and Joe Barlow. The Tourists have scored one run over their last 17 innings. That came on a solo Home Run by Austin Bernard in the fifth inning of Wednesday's game. Asheville has now been shut out 11 times this year.

Hickory will aim for a series sweep on Friday while the Tourists will attempt to salvage the series finale. Friday night's contest will begin at 7:05pm.
