
G-Braves Blank Durham, 5-0; Move into a Tie for First

Gwinnett Stripers News Release
The Lead: The Gwinnett Braves moved into a tie for first place in the International League South with a 5-0 win over the Durham Bulls in Durham, NC. The Braves won three of the four games at Durham Bulls Athletic Park and shutout the Bulls for the second straight night. Both Gwinnett and Durham sit on top of the IL South with Identical 59-47 records.
It Was Over When: When CF Jeff Fiorentino hit a three run homer off of RHP Andy Sonnanstine in the top of the fifth. It broke a scoreless tie and gave the Braves a lead they would never lose.
Braves Beat:
On the Mound: LHP Yohan Flande (7-5) started and earned the win. His line: 6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 R/ER, 4 ER, 2 BB, 8 K's. RHP Corey Gearrin replaced Flande with two outs in the seventh: 2.0 IP 3 H, 1 BB, 4 K's. RHP Jay Chapman closed the game out and pitched to one batter. At the plate: CF Jeff Fiorentino was 1-for-3 with a homer (3) and 4 RBI. RF Stefan Gartrell was 2-for-4, as was 2B Ruben Gotay. SS Tyler Pastornicky was 1-for-3; he has hit safely in 9 of his 10 Triple A games.
The Opposition:
On the Mound: RHP Andy Sonnanstine (1-2) started the game and got the loss. His line: 8.0 IP, 7 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 K's. LHP Cesar Ramos pitched the 9th inning: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R/ER, 1 BB, 1 K. At the Plate: DH Stephen Vogt was the only Durham player with more than one hit; he went 2-for-4.
On Deck: The Gwinnett Braves return to Coolray Field Saturday night to begin a four game series against the Indianapolis Indians. First pitch at 7:05 p.m. RHP Erik Cordier (3-6, 5.13) will start for Gwinnett. RHP Brad Lincoln (7-7, 3.81) takes the mound for the Indians.
