
G-Braves Announce All-Star Reading Team

The Gwinnett Braves today announced their 2009 All-Star Reading Team. The Reading Team boasts a full line-up of nine members from the Gwinnett Braves organization and each will participate in various reading initiatives and educational programs throughout Gwinnett and the Atlanta metro. Chopper, the team's official mascot, will fill the lead off spot, with a "player to be named later" batting clean-up. The complete 2009 Gwinnett Braves All-Star Reading Team is as follows:

The All-Star Reading Team's Opening Day will be on Monday, March 2 when the
National Education Association's (NEA) Read Across America kicks off. The NEA annually sponsors Read Across America and now in its twelfth year, the program focuses on how important it is to motivate children to read, in addition to helping them master basic skills. The nationwide reading celebration takes place each year on or near March 2, the birthday of children's author Dr. Seuss. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, community centers, and more participate by bringing together kids and books. Current All-Star Reading Appearances include:

The Gwinnett Braves are the Triple A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.
