Fury sign Michigan Tech defenseman

MUSKEGON, MI.--- Riding the crest of an extraordinary 17-games' undefeated streak at 17(14-0-3) and having won 5-consecutively overall, the defending Colonial Cup Champions of the United Hockey League, the Muskegon Fury, are beginning the process of getting ready for the stretch drive of the 2004-05 regular with their collective eyes firmly set on the post-season playoffs.

Today, the Central Division and co-league-leading Fury took their initial steps in that direction in announcing the signing of defenseman CLAY WILSON to a standard UHL contract for the remainder of the current campaign. Adhering to club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

WILSON, 21, is arriving on the Muskegon pro hockey scene with some outstanding credentials, achieved from a solid four-year career at Michigan Tech of the highly-prestigious Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).

The 6-0, 195lb American-bred from Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota, recently-completed his collegiate eligibility with the Huskies enjoying a strong senior season. In 34-games, he authored 7-points on 3-goals, 4-assists with 1-PPG and 42-PIM.

His best campaign of overall offensive production occurred in his Sophomore season of 2002-03 when he authored 25-points in 38-games through 8-goals, 17-assists while adding 37-PIM.

His four-year career totals at Michigan Tech read: 147-games, 17-goals, 40-assists, 57-points with 6-PPG, 1-SHG and 119-PIM.

Officially inked to a pact by the Fury March 17th, Wilson is expected to make his Muskegon debut this weekend, beginning Friday night, March 18th when the Fury host division rival Kalamazoo in a 7:30 pm face-off at Walker Arena.
