Fury look to get back on track on the road against Springfield

March 7, 2003 - National Women's Basketball League (NWBL)
Dallas Fury News Release

The five game road trip for the Tennessee Fury didn't start off the way they would have liked it. They dropped the first game against the Houston Stealth 68-60. There is no time for the Fury think about what could have been they must now take on the best team in the NWBL, the Springfield Spirit.

Springfield has beaten the Fury twice this season, once up in Springfield 97-87, and then one more time down in Knoxville 94-89. Should the Fury drop this one it will start their trip off with two losses and it will also be their third loss in a row. The Fury opened their season up with three loses but then was able to rebound and win three in a row.

This won't be the only match up of the two teams on this road trip. After this game the Fury travels to Chicago, Grand Rapids and then will wrap up the trip back in Springfield.

When asked about his team's performance so far this season General Manager Ryan McCallum had this to say.

"I'm very happy with my team's performance so far. Strong play from WNBA starts such as Becky Hammon, Marie Ferdinand, Tonya Washington, Semeka Randall and Keisha Brown has been key to our successes. We have had excellent play from our other players as well. All of our other players have played key roles. Obviously I would have liked to have won a few more of our close games but at this point I am impressed with the teams overall performance. We beat Springfield way back in the beginning of February. They have had our number in the past couple of games. We match up well against them so I anticipate tonight's game to be great."

The Fury's next home game will be on Sunday March 16th against the Birmingham Power. Tickets are still available at Tickets Unlimited. You can purchase them online at www.knoxvilletickets.com or you can call 865.656.4444. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $8. Seating is General Admission.
