Take that Spirit, Fury are going to the Finals

Dallas Fury News Release

Springfield MA: We all watched the Final Four this season as the Uconn Huskies made their terrific run to a second consecutive championship over the Lady Vols. It continued the dominance that Connecticut has had over Tennessee. This season the Springfield Spirit had that same dominance as Uconn had in the NWBL. They steamrolled their way to the first seed, as did Uconn and was the perennial favorite to take the ProCup. However the similarities end there. Tonight it was the scrappy Fury bunch that took things into their own hand and landed a devastating blow to the Springfield Spirit by sending them home with an 80-67 victory.

It was the Fury who controlled things all forty minutes. It was the Fury that controlled the tempo and played their style of ball. Former University of Tennessee guard Semeka Randall took matters into her own hands by completely controlling the glass and leading the way offensively for the Fury. Randall poured in 22 points to go along with a game high 15 boards.

Becky Hammon, league’s leading scorer, had her usual performance. Hitting three’s all over the place and letting her match Randall’s point total of 22. “We put forty minute together tonight. Everyone contributed to this victory.

Things weren’t easy for the Fury tonight. Playing in Springfield they definitely didn’t have the crowd on their side. “I love it when I play in front of a large crowd. They have great fans up here that want to see a good basketball game tonight."

Coach Rodney Minggia finally had a smile on his face and had this to say after the game, “AMEN."

The Fury will take on the Houston Stealth tomorrow for the Pro Cup championship. Game time is set for 4 p.m. Tomorrow’s game will be web cast on www.sportsradionet.com with pre-game starting 30 minutes prior to tip-off.
