Fury to face Power then it\'s off to the PRO CUP
April 7, 2003 - National Women's Basketball League (NWBL)
Dallas Fury News Release
The Tennessee Fury will wrap up their regular season on Wednesday night at Maryville College against the Birmingham Power; game time is set for 7:30. The Fury now stands at 8-12 while Birmingham is one game ahead at 9-11. A win for the Fury would mean they would move ahead of the Power in the standings going into the Pro Cup. A victory on Wednesday would ensure at least a 4th place finish in the final regular season standings.
The Fury is coming off a two game road trip where it beat Chicago 80-79 but lost to Grand Rapids 82-78. Wednesday's game against Birmingham could have bigger implications because the two could be looking at a first round match up in the Pro Cup.
As things stand right now, the Springfield Spirit has locked up the top spot in the league and will receive a first round bye along with the Champions of last year's Pro Cup, the Houston Stealth. In third place is the Chicago Blaze. That leaves the Fury, Power and Blizzard to battle it out for the remaining spots.
Wednesday's game will also be "Girl Scout Night." All Scouts that come to the game dressed in uniform will receive free admission.
There are still tickets for Wednesday's game. You can purchase them at Tickets Unlimited online at www.knoxvilletickets.com or by calling 865.656.4444. Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $8. Seating is limited so get there early.
