Time Is On The Tennessee Fury\'s Side for 2004

June 7, 2003 - National Women's Basketball League (NWBL)
Dallas Fury News Release

The National Women's Basketball League announced today that Ryan McCallum has been named the Tennessee Fury's General Manager for the 2004 season. McCallum signed a contract extension after being named the NWBL Executive of the year in 2003.

The Fury finished last season with a second place finish at the 2003 Pro Cup. They finished ahead of: The Birmingham Power, Chicago Blaze, Grand Rapids Blizzard, and Springfield Spirit, before falling to Sheryl Swoopes and the Houston Stealth in the final game.

After learning that the Fury would play in East Tennessee only a few months before last season, the organization now has time this off-season to put together a powerful marketing, sponsorship, and ticket sales campaign for 2004, which starts in January.

"This upcoming season is going to be a great one for the Tennessee Fury. The organization can now do a number of things that we could not last year because of limited time. In order to assure a successful season we need to at least double sponsorship and season ticket support. We are confident that East Tennessee will rally to our support", said Fury GM Ryan McCallum

FYI Marketing, an East Tennessee marketing firm, representing other clients such as the Knoxville Ice Bears (ACHL), was named the official marketing company of the Tennessee Fury for the second consecutive season.

Susan King of FYI Marketing commented "I see this as a win-win situation for FYI marketing, the Tennessee Fury, and all of East Tennessee. East Tennessee will be treated to a great product both on and off the court in 2004".

Tennessee Fury season's tickets are planned to go on sale next week.
