August 31, 2018 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Ottawa Fury FC News Release
OTTAWA - Ottawa Fury FC announced Friday that Canadian International full-back Michael Petrasso would join the club on loan from the Montreal Impact of Major League Soccer (MLS). Petrasso joins Fury FC for training immediately.
Prior to joining the Montreal Impact in January, Petrasso, 22, was part of English club Queens Park Rangers F.C. for the last six years, appearing in 11 games in the Championship, England's second division, in one FA Cup game and one EFL Cup game. Following a spell of loans, he also recorded five goals and two assists in 29 League One games, England's third division, and played a total of 1,903 minutes for Oldham Athletic, Coventry City, Leyton Orient and Notts County. He also took part in five FA Cup games, one EFL Cup game and three EFL Trophy games.
The Toronto native had joined QPR's academy in 2012 after spending two years with the Toronto FC Academy. On the international stage, Petrasso has represented Canada in eight matches, including seven starts. His most recent camp with Canada's Men's National Team was for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States, where he started all four games. He had previously played five games with the Canadian U-23 team, and represented Canada at the CONCACAF U-20 Championship in 2013 and 2015, and at the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup, in Mexico.
Ottawa Fury FC will look to continue their run for a post-season appearance in USL playoffs this Friday when they travel to face New York Red Bulls II. Petrasso and the rest of the Fury FC squad will also host Montreal Impact on Friday, September 7 at TD Place for the inaugural CapCity Cup friendly, a match that will shine the bright lights on the young Canadian talent in both squads, as well as on our local soccer heroes that connect the Ottawa-Gatineau soccer community.
