Ottawa Fury FC News Release

OTTAWA - Ottawa Fury FC announced on Friday the addition of two Canadian trialists to its roster: midfielder Chris Mannella and defender Monti Mohsen. Both players will make the trip to Charlotte ahead of Fury FC's season opener against the Independence on Saturday night.

"We are thrilled to add more talented Canadian players to the fold as we get ready for the new season," said General Manager Julian de Guzman. "Mannella comes with valuable experience and qualities that make him a great asset for the squad, and Monti is a young local player that has shown great promise throughout his trial. We expect great things from both of them this season."

Chris Mannella is a product of the Toronto FC academy having joined their ranks in 2009. He was part of the TFC senior Academy team when they joined the inaugural season of League1 Ontario in 2014. In September of that year, he signed a homegrown player contract with Toronto FC, featuring in a handful of exhibition games with the first team.

In 2015, he was loaned to Toronto FC II ahead of the club's inaugural season in USL. He served as their captain and spent two productive years with the club, featuring in 38 matches and scoring one goal. He spent the 2017 season back in League1 Ontario with Vaughan Azzurri, where he was named a second team All Star.

Mannella also represented Canada at the international level, earning a first National Team call-up in 2015 and participating in Men's U-23 Caribbean tour in 2016.

Monti Mohsen was born and raised in Ottawa and developed his talents with Ottawa St. Anthony SC. Having been training with Fury FC since April 2017, Monti made a name for himself at the last Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg as part of Team Ontario. That's when the defender scored the lone goal in the men's gold-medal final, the one that would propel his team to the top of the podium.

Ottawa Fury FC will face the Independence in Charlotte this Saturday (7:00 pm) in its first match of the 2018 USL season. It will then return to Ottawa for its first bye-week, before resuming the road trip that will take the club to Toronto (March 31), Tampa Bay (April 7) and Pittsburgh (April 14). Fury FC will return home for its own Home Opener at TD Place on Saturday, April 21 (2:00 pm kickoff).

Ottawa Fury FC season tickets for the 2018 USL season are still available starting at $247 for adults and $190 for youth. Single game tickets are now also on sale online at OttawaFuryFC.com/Tickets, by calling 613.232.6767 x1 or in person at the TD Place Box Office.
