Ontario Fury News Release
The Ontario Fury, Driven by Mark Christopher Chevrolet, scored seven times in the second quarter, but could only manage three more goals in the other three periods as they fell to Soles de Sonora 16-10 Saturday night at Centro de Usos Multiplex in Ensenada, Mexico.
Ontario (1-1) fell behind 3-0 after one period, as the Fury adjusted to the smaller dimensions of the arena. But Mauricio Salles scored twice in the first 49 seconds of the second period - assisted by Joey Tavernese both times - to get the Fury back into the game.
Tiguinho scored the next two, giving the Fury its first lead, and his second goal was followed 12 seconds later by Bernie Lilavois, shedding his coaching responsibilities for the night. The teams traded goals from there, as the Fury took a 7-6 lead at the half.
But Sonora (2-1) took over in the final 30 minutes. They outscored the Fury 4-1 in the third quarter, then 6-2 in the final 15 minutes to close out the game.
Tiguinho led the Fury with three goals, while Lilavois and Salles each ended with two. Israel Sesay had the Fury's other goal.
Ontario continues its first road trip of the season tonight up the Mexican coast, as they will take on expansion Atletico Baja for the second time in eight days. It will be the first-ever home game for Baja . The game is scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m. Pacific.
