Motor City Mechanics News Release
MUSKEGON, MI- The Motor City Mechanics looked to extend their winning streak to three games tonight as they traveled to Muskegon to take on the Fury at the LC Walker Arena, but fall short and drop a 4-1 decision to the Fury.
The Fury capitalized first to take the lead early when Jeff Petruic received a pass from behind the net from Billy Collins and Bill Zalba at 16:02. The Mechanics would receive a five-minute power play at the end of the period as Jeff Nelson received a five-minute boarding penalty and a game misconduct. The power play carried over to the second period, however, as the period would expire. The Mechanics would outshoot the Fury 16 to 10 in the first period.
The Fury would extend their lead to three as they would score two more goals in the second period. David Wrigley and Rustyn Dolyny would tally the second period goals. The Fury would outshoot the Mechanics 19 to six in the second period, thus leading in shots after two periods with 29 to just 22 Mechanics shots.
Adam Edinger (6) would score to break Clayton Pools shutout bid at 15:35 of the third period. Greg Bullock (14) and Tom Kotsopoulos (1) would tally the assists on the power play goal. Edingers' goal was his third goal in as many games and his fourth point in the past three games.
Rod Branch made his sixth start in a row and made 35 saves on 39 Fury shots.
The Mechanics return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Flint to take on the Generals and return home Saturday to face the Kalamazoo Wings. Saturday is also a Team Photo Giveaway presented by Dr. Kathleen Abate, Team Dentist and 106.7 The Drive.
