
Fullerton Flyers to Host Mascot Olympics on Saturday

(Fullerton, CA. August 1, 2006) The Fullerton Flyers have announced that their Mascot Coal Train, along with the team, will host the Mascot Olympics on Saturday, August 5th as the Flyers host the Reno Silver Sox at Goodwin Field. Proceeds from the day's events will benefit the Children's Hospital of Orange County. Game time is scheduled for 6:05 PM. Tickets are still available.
Funds for the Children's Hospital of Orange County will be raised through game ticket sales, silent auctions to be held during the game, a bowling tournament, and donations collected at the game. Leading up to the day's events will be proclamations from Mayor Leland Wilson of the City of Fullerton (Tuesday, August 1 at 4 PM at Fullerton City Hall) and Orange County Supervisor Chris Norby declaring August 5th as Mascot Day in Fullerton and Mascot Day in Orange County.
Golden Baseball League Mascots are scheduled to appear with over twenty other Mascots from the Southern California region. Also confirmed to participate are mascots from Cal State Fullerton, the Bakersfield Condors, the San Diego Gulls, Long Beach Ice Dogs, Lake Elsinore Storm, and the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes.
In support of the Flyers efforts, the two other Golden Baseball League teams hosting games that evening, the Yuma Scorpions and the Chico Outlaws, have also planned August 5th activities to support local children's charities in their respective communities. The Mascot Olympics are presented by the Fullerton Flyers Professional Baseball Club, the Golden Baseball League, Woodfin Suites Hotel in Brea, Trinity Bat Company of Fullerton, Harley-Davidson Owners Group (HOG) of Fullerton, Prudential Overall Services, and Sue Johnson and Thomas Wasnock of Coldwell Banker, Fullerton.
